Here's my weekend in pictures. At least, part of it. Ready?
Friday was good. This lovely young woman is the senior medical student appointed to teach on the cardiovascular block with me. She's smart. She's amazing. She's beautiful. She's just. . .lovely.
Her name is Leilah Z. and she will be starting her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in July.

I was super happy to meet up with this future intern in my program. Her name is Marcher and she will be joining us at Emory next year. She had a chance to pass through Atlanta and lucky for me, she stopped by Grady.

Late night text message from my friend and fellow Grady doctor Stacy H. on Friday:
"I have an extra number to the Atlanta Women's 5K tomorrow morning. Want in?"
"Isn't it supposed to rain?"
"Not until later. You in?"
"I'm in."
I woke up on Saturday to rain. Well. Mostly drizzly-rain. But still. I had plans for the evening that don't involve my hair looking like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Which, no, I have nothing against but just doesn't happen to be the look I'm going for.
Anyways.
So I call Stacy and say, "Dude. It's raining." And she replied, "Yeah. Only a little though. I have a hat." And I was like, "Dude. I'm not trying to jack my hair up. I have to go to a formal tonight." And she replied, "I hear you. Let me know what you decide because I'm here with Dominique and her sister."
Dooooh!
I get off of the phone and sit there for a bit. Then I walk to the front door, open it, and just stand there. It wasn't so bad I guess.
And besides. Dom (another of the Grady doctor girls) and her sister couldn't be thinking that a little rain would be my kryptonite. I decided to throw a hat on and join the fun. As you can see, I had serious hair protection going on.
Dominique's sister Bri was awesome. So, so fun, too.
Stacy, Dominique and Bri all ran the 5K in under 30 minutes. And I am proud to say I came in shortly after with an official time of 31:34.

Here's another fun fact: Since my number originally belonged to Stacy's thirteen year old daughter Zoe, not only did I get a personal record, I also placed 13th for the age 1-14 group.

Don't hate the player, people. Hate the game.
Next up was golf for Isaiah (sorry no snaps) and then a birthday party. Turns out they had facepainting and such. Isaiah finds all face painting "super creepy" but Zack? Chile please. He never, ever misses a chance to get his face painted.

Skeletor emerges.
Followed by circus clown Skeletor.
What can I say? The kid knows how to have fun.
I left face painted Zack at the party and tossed Isaiah into the car for the next line item. Ha.
Isaiah had a Jack and Jill activity at this place called Moving in the Spirit. He was super, duper reluctant at first to do anything under the auspices of "dancing" but he and all the boys warmed up quickly. The girls, of course, were awesome from the start.
That was really fun. If you live in Atlanta, you should check that spot out.
Hmmm what else?
With Sabrina M. also known as "Madame President" in our sorority chapter. She's half woman, half amazing. Deanna loved her. I love her, too!
And with my fabulous "little sister" Jenea K. from Tuskegee who is now the "Madame President of another Atlanta area Delta chapter. I had to make sure I stood tall and looked extra important for these photos.

And lastly, I wrapped it all up with a lunch on Sunday with my mommy. It doesn't get any better than that, does it?

That's what's been going on with me. What's up with you?

Happy Tuesday.
