"You know what I just realized, Mom? She was one of my very best friends in the world."

He asked me if the tears those words brought to my eyes were "happy ones or sad ones."
"Both," I told him. "But mostly happy ones from hearing that you feel that way about her. Because I feel that way, too."

Happy Friday.
Now playing on my mental iPod and making me cry more. . . but happy ones. . .
Yes.
ReplyDeleteShe was one of mine too. *happy tears* :-)

From the deck of the Poop,
ReplyDeleteNot a full kleenex moment, but a slight well of tears and a sniffle...
She was my "Big Girl"...

How wonderful that he experienced such love from a friend. So many children never do. Your sister is smiling.
ReplyDeleteKimberly, when I first looked at that picture of Deanna and your beautiful boy, my first thought was it was Deanna and Jolai. He looks like his Auntie to me in that picture. All of you Drapers are beautiful looking people whose children all favor and can be interchangeable (I have told William more than once, that David looks just like you.) :) You know Deanna is smiling down on all of you.
ReplyDeleteI see JoLai in that photo, too. Thanks, Dawn.
