Captured in the crowd ~ me celebrating with my advisee, Antoinette |
Seeing the students that you've known and taught since the very beginning of medical school opening their envelopes on match day just never gets old.
Ever.
But especially the ones that you love.

This one? I love so much that I can't even write about it. So I won't. Because I'm so proud and so full that I can't. So I won't.
I'll just say this: Congratulations, sweet girl. You have left me forever changed. This world is yours.
Gracias para todo.

Happy Match Day to all. And to all a good life.
It's so exciting and I have nothing to do with it! But just learned of very dear friends moving now to North Carolina from match day so looking forward to a visit there.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that this system works, though many nerves must be strung taut!
And you made me tear up again! And the feeling is mutual, so very mutual...now you will have four small group alpha kids in the Midwest! Guess you'll have to road trip with the bhe and things 1 & 2 soon!
ReplyDeleteOne of my good friends was matched yesterday with her top choice! What a wonderful feeling.
ReplyDeleteyour pride, emotion and love come through. loud and clear and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat did she match in?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize 3 of my fb friends had match day yesterday until they were talking about where they were going! One of my friends is headed to Emory w/her fiancé! They got couples matched! Another thing I didn't know about! It was really exciting! You could tell they were really overwhelmed with joy! Now I need to go research Match Day... it's at the end of med school is about all I have.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Made me cry. Wish I could have been there.
ReplyDeleteOB/GYN at Northwestern! Going back to where it all began!
ReplyDeleteHey Jameil, to learn more about match day, click the hyperlink in that first sentence. It goes to last year's match day where I explain how it all works! :)
ReplyDeleteAntoinette (the same one who has the quote "do it for the story" on the side of my blog) matched in Ob/Gyn at prestigious Northwestern in Chicago. Way to go!!!
Thank you for taking time to share these thoughts on such a special occasion..and for the picture of Antoinette. Very moved by your line "..love so much that I can't even write about it".
